Aimee MontgomeryDrama and Stagecraft Coach firstname.lastname@example.org
Aimee joined the Uplift Performing Arts team in 2011 as a Drama and Stagecraft Teacher. Attending Carrickfergus College allowed Aimee to push herself and get involved in the performing arts department which resulted in her being in a number of lead roles in various school plays. Aimee has enjoyed so many memorable experiences that have boosted her confidence and she was asked to perform a solo alongside Peter Corey in the Christmas production of ‘The Music Box' at the Theatre at the Mill when in school. Wanting to educate herself more within theatre and the arts, Aimee graduated from the University of Ulster with a 1st Class Honours in Drama, excelling in Directing, Performing and Theatre for Young Audiences. During her time in University Aimee was awarded the 'The Playhouse Prize for practical work' having made the most significant contribution to the development of practical work in creative arts.
Within her time at University Aimee was involved within many aspects of the industry and undertook many roles including, Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeares Macbeth, Estragon in Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot and Caryl Churchill Love and Information. Aimee has also had experience in directing, as in her final year devised a Theatre for Young Audience piece titled Sheet of Dreams aimed to four to five year olds dealing with the theme of isolation. She was given the opportunity to tour with it around local primary schools showcasing her work. Aimee has also directed a Murder Mystery for Uplift and is currently devising and writing work for children's theatre.
Aimee was drawn to Uplift because of the motto of building up children and young people's confidence and self-esteem through creative outlets. Aimee's passion has led her to give her time in voluntary work within Uplift and in the summer of 2016 Aimee had the opportunity to be cast member in a team going to Danville, Kentucky to take part in an outreach exchange programme. Working with kids from the ages of three to eighteen teaching them singing, dancing and acting. Aimee recalls this being a life changing experience and is very grateful to Uplift for allowing her this opportunity and would encourage students of Uplift to consider this chance. Aimee loves being involved in Uplift and is excited to shape and inspire the younger generation of performers to enrich them, to reach their full potential.
